FS1, FS2 and FS4....

Talking about updates. Ever seen the Flightsimulator 1.0 (26K)and 2.0 (70K) ?You will need the Apple emulator.......(74K) Unzip all files in one folder, run apple.exe. It took me 20 minutes to get the thing working: Type D (disk drive), 1 and Tab, select *dsk file. It brings you back to the early day's of flightsimulation.

I also found Flight Simulator 4.0 (594Kb) available on the net as demo but as far as I can see it is the full version and it includes the good-old scenery designer, the one we lost with FS5.x fs95 and fs98....... Please inform me as soon as the links don't work anymore.

Beware: fs1, fs2 and fs4 files are not FS98 updates or patches. They will not harm your system however.

3rd Official patch
 Microsoft makes us believe it's the first patch. (801 Kb) But after the two previous patches I count it as the third one. but what the heck....The purpose of this patch can be read in this text file from Microsoft. Watch out: This patch will set FS98 in mono sound as default! If you want to get stereo sounds again you need to make some changes in the fltsim98.cfg file. Read the included txt file how to do this!

This self-extracting, self-installing file installs several modified files to correct known issues in Flight Simulator 98. This patch contains all of the Flight Simulator fixes that were included with the converter, plus several new fixes that are not included with the converter. So: if you don't need the converter, you can use this patch. If you installed the converter already, you need to install this patch too as it solves more bugs.

2nd PATCH/CONVERTER
 The 'converter'. Microsoft don't want to call this the Second PATCH but it sure is! Also known (same file) as the  Microsoft FS98 Plane and Adventure converter. (1,5Mb). Solves  about 20 known bugs in FS98! Click here to see what it seems to solve..... It also converts Flight Shop FS5.1/FS95/FS6 planes and adventures to FS98 format. You need this file even when you don't want to convert planes or adventures!

The Converter readme.txt mentions the AAFWAV.ZIP without mentioning where to find it: I added the link for you....

FS98 Patch 1
 Official Microsoft FS98 Patch (2,9Mb)is intended to address the problem encountered in some configurations where Setup claims that approximately 4096MB of free space is required to install the application. FS98ptch_USOnly.exe includes a replacement setup that can be run from the user’s hard drive. This patch is for US/English versions only.

"DirectPlay 5.0a components are also included, which may be of help if you are encountering difficulty using Flight Simulator 98 through the Internet Gaming Zone"(ms). Beware: some people reported problems with this patch!!!!! If you get even more problems with the multiplayer mode as you had before you need to re install
the original direct Play 5.00 from the FS98 disk and reinstall your modem in the windows setup.(Thanks to Bob Cardone who suffered this experience)

EHAM exclusion file
 When you installed Europe I you will notice a double Amsterdam Schiphol airport. Placing this ready for use exclusion scenery file (1K) into your EuropeI\Scenery directory will make the second one disappear. Please report problems. File made by Sindar of the Microsoft Simulation newsgroup.
